Senior Year
 

The finish line is just around the corner. 

As you enter your senior year, it’s a time with unforgettable memories. With prom, homecoming, senior trips, and college decisions on the horizon, you’ve put in a tremendous amount of effort to get here! Now is the moment to finish strong. Remember, your academics still play a crucial role, as colleges will be reviewing your first semester and final year grades. Keep pushing yourself to demonstrate your commitment and determination all the to the finish line.

August - September: Application Launch & College Refinement

 

  • Standardized Testing: Register for the SAT and/or ACT if needed, utilizing fee waivers as applicable.

  • Application Preparation: Review college applications to understand required information.

  • Confirm graduation and college admission requirements with your counselor. Review with your Edunav Hub Advisor. 

  • College Visits: Attend college representative visits, college fairs, and campus visits.

  • College List & Organization: Narrow down your college list and gather application/financial aid information.

  • Create a personal checklist and calendar for deadlines (tests, applications, financial aid).

November - December: Application Submission & Transcript Management

  • Early Applications: Finalize and submit early decision/early action applications, with review by a trusted adult.

  • Request high school transcripts to be sent to colleges.

  • Ensure test scores are sent to colleges.

  • Regular Applications:

    • ​Organize materials for regular decision applications and financial aid forms.

  • Register for the January SAT or February ACT if needed. Take the CLT monthly if needed. 

  • Be aware of January 1st application deadlines for many schools.

  • Request first semester transcripts to be sent to applied schools in January.

October: Financial Aid & Essay Focus

  • Financial Aid: File the FAFSA as early as October 1st.Track your Student Aid Report (SAR).

  • Fee Waivers: Request application fee waivers if needed.

  • Application Components:

    • ​Finalize your college essay.

    • Request letters of recommendation.

    • Research scholarship opportunities.

    • Be aware of early deadlines for some colleges.

February - May: Decision & Enrollment

​

  • Acceptance & Financial Aid:

    • ​Review acceptance letters and financial aid offers.

  • Maintain academic performance.

  • Enrollment Decision:

    • ​Commit to and deposit at your chosen college by May 1st.

    • Notify your counselor and other colleges of your decision.

  • Accept financial aid offers.

Final Steps:

  • Request final transcripts to be sent to your college.

  • If wait-listed, express continued interest and inquire about strengthening your application.
